Description / Color / Consistency: A thin, colorless to pale yellow liquid.
Aromatic Summary / Note / Strength of Aroma: Birch Sweet has a sweet, sharp, camphoraceous scent that is very fresh and similar to Wintergreen (smells like root beer), and is a strong top note.
Product Abstract: The Birch tree is a graceful tree about 25m high, which has a pyramidal shape while young. It has bright green leaves and a dark reddish-brown aromatic bark, which is broken into plates or patches. Native to southern Canada and southeastern USA; it now grows also in Russia and parts of Eastern Europe.
Cautions: Dilute before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.
Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping) be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

Rating: Birch Sweet oil works great in massage blends for sore muscles and rheumatic pain. Use the oil in small quantity and make sure to dilute it well in carrier oil because it's extremely strong and can cause irritation. I use it in a blend for soap.... No complaints here.

Rating: Super great EO for salves. Smells just like wintergreen (as it should since they contain the same chemical compound).

Rating: This has a super strong sassafras smell, and although NDA packages their oils extremely well, this one unfortunately still managed to leak out onto my other products in the shipping. It's too bad, because although the smell is nice, it's so overpowering and becomes cloying after a short amount of time.

Rating: New Directions Sweet Birch Oil has essentially made me free of pain in the neck that I had for years due to a broken 2nd vertebrae many years ago. I massage it on my neck each day after the shower and when I realized that I do not have the pain any more I just smiled. It also helps when I have pain in my hip after a replacement. It is great for my arthritic joints and saves my stomach from having to absorb pills for my pains. I use it neat and never have any bad reactions. Really, it saves my life from pain. Thank you for carrying this great product!

Rating: My rehabilitation clinic sees many work- and auto-injured patients that have long term (sometimes years) of chronic pain. We created a unique anti-inflammatory analgesic massage oil using Sweet Birch oil from NewDirections. The oil was such a success, that patients now buy the massage oil to use at home.

Rating: Wonderful minty type scent, and very useful in my sports-massage blend. Usually not recommended for aromatherapy as is toxic especially when undiluted, but quite handy for sore muscles. Great price and good quality.
