Product Abstract: This chamomile grows extensively in central and eastern Europe, and is in the daisy family, growing to 30 cm high with lacey leaves and small white daisy-like flowers. The word 'chamomile' comes from the Greek word chamomaela or ground apple, referring to the fact that the plant grows low to the ground, and the fresh blooms have a pleasing apple-scent. In use for centuries, chamomile was a symbol of the omnipotence of the Egyptian god, Ra; to the Saxons it was one of nine sacred herbs; and in Europe during the Middle Ages it was used as a strewing herb.
Cautions: Dilute before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals, and should be avoided by those allergic to ragweed; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.
Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping) be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

Rating: I absolutely LOVE this oil. It smells amazing, not sure how to describe it. Maybe a bit woodsy with a bit of a sweet scent. I love mixing it with other oils like Elemi, Ylang Ylang, and Wintergreen to name a few. It is amazing, the price, not so much lol!! I use it in my lotions and it is a part of my massage lotion which I also LOVE!!!
Rating: Roman chamomile is listed (in web searches) as one of the essential oils that help bruises heal. So I included it in a blend for my purple forearm, bruised by clumsiness at home. I am gleefully watching the arm return to a healthier appearance. What we can't learn through our problems!

Rating: Smells wonderful! I have smelled several other Roman Chamomile EO's and this is every bit as good, if not better! This is the best price point I've seen! Will be using for hair serum & face cream & definitely purchasing again!
Rating: Great quality. Has bright green apple top notes w slight, dries down to fresh, "yellow" scent like if you crush the yellow center of chamomile or daisy with your fingers. Will buy again.

Rating: I use a drop of chammomile with lavender and marjoram every night to relax myself to sleep. It has a fantastic soothing green scent that is very calming. I have also used it mixed with witch hazel for soothing wipes. Lovely!
By:Stacey, Paris, Illinois Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 20-Nov-2011
Rating: This is my favourite oil all. It is very calming after a day's work and I normally add it with Lavender but even with a 1:5 ratio (more Lavender), the Chamomile scent still prevails. I like the fact that it is strong.
By:Cheryl, Burnaby, British Columbia Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 09-Nov-2005
Rating: The smell is as strong as suggested and a little to get used to, but with the healing effects it has it is well worth having it around. A little goes a long way.

Rating: This is a wonderful EO to use with kids and babies. I use it for a sleep time diffuser mix with NDA's Sweet Orange and French Lav. It is also wonderful to use if your little one has a cold or is sick. I have found it helps calm and relax my little guy if diffused with water in his room. Worth the price for the wonderful healing benefits!

Thank you NDA !

Rating: Roman Chamomiles seem to have such a variation of fragrance. My nose knew what I was looking for - and I ordered samples from six companies - just to sniff and judge. I could have saved myself expense and trouble because the one I enjoy the most is from ND. Should have known - just the best fragrance - I have been using it in almost every one of my "Lotions and Potions" - thank you so much!

By:Candice, Ocala, Florida Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 27-Feb-2009
Rating: This is a very nice specimen, especially at the low price it is been currently offered. The aroma is right; it is well rounded and balanced. I usually dislike the smell from the bottle because it often smells chemical too my nose and hence I prefer it diluted, but this specimen is pleasant and relaxing right from the bottle. This product has the raw, earthy aroma that the essential oils should always possess. It has the characteristic apple-like smell but it is just reminiscent of apple. We know all the uses of roman chamomile, it overlaps the properties of German chamomile and lavender and can be used for young children skin problems and equally for baby's skin problem safely. If your children have trouble getting asleep, a gentle massage in the head will certainly help. The same applies for grownups.

Rating: Efficacious in skin care regimes and quite pleasant in dilution as a component in heavy incense or light herbal fragrances; New Directions' Roman Chamomile is among the best I've ever sampled.

Rating: I use this essential oil in my signature hair oil blend. I am very particular about the quality of my eo's and was a little skeptical about this one because of the fantastic price. NDA did not dissappoint! I now feel that I can make other creations with this oil and not feel that I just robbed my hair oil of a key ingredient.
Rating: This oil has become another staple like lavender & tea tree! No medicine cabinet should be without!

Rating: This scent is so lovely and soft! I put 2-3 drops on a cotton ball and placed it inside my pillowcase before bed. Off to dreamland and sweet slumber. I find this scent to be more genuinely relaxing than lavender. I am so grateful to have affordable access to such quality oils. Thanks again NDA!

Rating: I will never be without this oil again! I have Fibromyalgia and stress and pretty much anything else you can imagine makes my muscles seize up, causing debilitating pain. I use Roman Chamomile daily in lotions and it lowers my stress and relaxes my muscles, thereby relieving and preventing all kinds of pain. On top of all that, it smells just like the chamomile that grew in my yard when I was little - like a beautiful summer's day in BC!
Also, a little goes a long way, so in the end it's economical as well.
By:Cathryn, Orleans, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 09-Nov-2005
Rating: Although, I am not personally fond of the smell of Chamomile Roman I can not deny it's wonderful healing properties in skin creams, it's effectiveness in p.m.s and menopausal creams, and it's extreme relaxing abilities. A very important oil with many uses.

Rating: This is one of my most useful oils in my apothecary of home remidies. In combination with some other ingredients it is very effective for stopping teen acne in it's tracks. A little on the expensive side, but worth it.
Rating: My favorite essential oil by far. I absolutely love this scent. I find it very warm, comforting and soothing. Added to sweet marjarom and lavender, it is a wonderful sleeping "potion" for the whole family.

Rating: This is a great scent. Again not knowing which chammomile to get, I don't think you can go wrong with this one. Very nice mild but not too mild scent. It's very middle of the road. All the oils I have gotten from New directions have been great. I can't wait to place my next order!!
Rating: This smells superb! I will definitly be blending this with lavender and using it in a line of baby products I am working on! For chamomile- this is a great price!
By:Stephanie, Cochrane, Alberta Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 09-Nov-2005
Rating: This definately is one of the first EOs one should start out with. Safe, non toxic and mixes well with others!
This particluar EO is abit more expensive and I almost passed it up since i already have some from another company (cough) but I am glad I went for it and bought this one as once again there is no comparrasion between the product you get from New Directions and other places!
By:Joely, Topeka, Kansas Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 15-Nov-2006
Rating: A surprisingly powerful scent for such a gentle oil. When properly diluted however, it lives up to it's reputation as an extremely calming oil. I use it in my deep sleep blend and the results are great! More expensive than other oils but I consider it in the top 10 oils to have in your kit.
By:Rachel, Roach, Missouri Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 07-Nov-2006
Rating: I was a little surprised at first by the intensity of the scent out of the bottle, but one drop each of Roman Chamomile and Lavender pop. in my 10 month old's bath before bed, and she's calm and happy and sleeps beautifully.
By:Karen, Nepean, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 09-Nov-2005
Rating: Roman Chamomile on its own smells sweet, complex, and quite strawlike. There's an element in it that hits the back of my nasal cavity like no other essential oil. This might be nice in a bath bomb, or soap. I can't see it being used in a natural perfume oil, although it is recorded as being commonly used in perfumery, and is in fact contained in at least by chanel.
By:Sherif, Scarborough, Ontario Top ReviewerDate: Loyal Customer Since: 09-Nov-2005
Rating: One of the safest essential oils besides lavender and tea tree. Has the most innocent, sweet and lovely scent always reminds me of childhood. Can be used for infants and children in calming blends and healing blends as well. This Roman is one of the best I've used! Very high frequency.
