Main Constituents:
Cinnamyl aldehyde: 65%

Botanical Name: Cinnamomum cassia blume

Plant Part: Bark

Extraction Method: CO2 Extraction

Origin: China

Description: The cinnamon tree is an evergreen native to China and mainland South East Asia. It is an evergreen which reaches maturity at 10-12 years. It has shiny, leathery green leaves, and small, white flowers with oval shaped purple berries. The CO2 extraction method yields a greater number of aromatic compounds from the cinnamon than any other distillation process. In certain conditions at a low temperature Carbon Dioxide or CO2 can be pressurized to become a liquid. This liquid then acts as a solvent and is used to extract the oil from plants. After extraction is completed, the extraction vessel is brought back to normal temperature and the CO2 rapidly converts to gas leaving behind high quality oil that is free of solvents. CO2 extracted essential oils may have slight gelling or clouding when oils are cold. When the product is warmed slightly the oil will become a clear liquid again.

Color: Clear dark yellow to brown liquid.

Consistency: Medium

Aromatic Scent: Cinnamon Bark CO2 Oil has a warm, spicy scent that is somewhere between clove and cinnamon. It is slightly herbaceous with pepper notes.

Note: Middle

Strength of Aroma: Strong

Blends With: Frankincense, Lavender, Cedarwood, Orange, Lemon, Neroli, Ylang-ylang.

Common Uses: With its pleasant scent, this essential oil has been considered to be a perfect additive to creams, lotions, and soaps and is especially popular in shaving soap and foot creams.

Important Note: Cinnamon Bark CO2 is clear at warmer temperatures (room temperature or just above). As the temperature drops it will become cloudy, which is normal. If the oil is reheated, it will become clear again.

History: The medicinal use of Cinnamon Bark was first recorded in Chinese formulations as early as 2700 B.C, and the ancient Egyptians used it for foot massage. It is still used in Ayurvedic medicine, and remains popular as an ingredient in mulled wines and cooking around the world.

Cautions: Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil can be irritating to the skin and mucous membranes - particularly in large doses. When using this oil, care must be taken because of the amount of active ingredients (compounds) it contains, and potential side effects from phototoxicity and sensitizing must be kept in mind when treating a client. It should always be used in dilution. Avoid use during pregnancy.

Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping) be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

Very nice cinnamon scent and great price. My boyfriend says it reminds him of fresh cinnamon and sugar. This was the first cinnamon I tried from New Directions and I was not expecting too much because of the price, but you will not be disappointed.

This is (currently) my favorite of the cinnamon oils. It's fantastic if you are making your own blend of "an ever so popular immune boosting blend from a mlm company", and I think the therapeutic properties are even better! It's absolutely warming, but not overstimulating to the nose. I have even diffused it on it's own, and with regular distillations of the oil, it really bothers the nose, but this extraction method really makes the oil very pleasant.

The quality of this oil is excellent, and the scent is not only true but very strong. I used this oil in a batch of CP soap and absolutely love the smell of this mixed with the Patchouli oil (also from New Directions Aromatics)!

One of the best cinnamon essences I have smelled As expected a little goes a long way! This is not to be confused with cinnamon leaf which is much more similar to clove

This one smells exactly like you'd expect cinnamon to smell. It's very strong, so I'd recommend diluting it before mixing it with anything else, since it's so overpowering.

Rich, earthy, and powerful! This isn't a candy-ish cinnamon, it's a true spicey cinnamon. Just like the real thing. Gorgeous for holiday blends.

I was nervous about ordering this item because I wanted the Zeylon, which was out of stock. However, I love the smell (it smells just like the spice) and it works very well in my lip balms and glosses! Great product!

Simply amazing oil ! It's a very powerful oil, identical to the spice, up close it hits you but is much less stigny than other cinammon bark oils, its earthy smell stimulates and reassures, the sweetness disapears in the astringeant feeling. With some distance the spicy sweet scent returns, it's very long lasting and far reaching, in a good way ; almost feels like it jumps out of the bottle ! With a distance it's sweet smell is more stigny, but the wood undertones spring out like magic, it feels like the jungle.

Very nice strong cinnamon scent, a little goes along way with this stuff. We used this in our cp soap and you can use it very sparingly. It mixes well with the green apple FO from NDA.

What a great oil! I can't believe no one has written a review for it yet! Taking a whiff with the bottle under your nose, this oil smells precisely like dried cinnamon bark. Out of the bottle - or upon a third or fourth whiff - you begin to detect some fruity, very dark citrus notes, as well as a hint of pepper. This is a powerful scent, so a little goes a long way, and when combining it with other oils be sure to think about your proportions. I haven't had the chance to test out this oil's purported antiseptic properties, but it is an excellent topical analgesic for arthritic, rheumatic and muscular pain. This oil blended into a body oil or cream (especially alongside other warming oils such as black pepper, ginger and capsicum) is a great remedy for both the chills and the body aches that come with having the flu. NOTE OF CAUTION: This oil applied to the skin neat can cause burning, itching and skin irritation, particularly those with sensitive skin. However, I have found that those sensations are temporary; they eventually plateau, and they seem to be one of the ways in which the oil relieves pain in the underlying tissues. I highly recommend this one.
