Terpinen-4-ol: 42.27%
1,8 Cineol: 2.39%

Plant Part: Leaves

Origin: Australia

Processing Method: Steam Distilled

Description / Color / Consistency: A thin, clear, pale yellow liquid.

Aromatic Summary / Note / Strength of Aroma: A middle note with a medium aroma, Tee Tree has a fresh, slightly medicinal scent with characteristic woody, camphoraceous notes.

Blends With: Cinnamon Bark, Clary Sage, Clove Bud, Geranium, Lavender, Lemon, Myrrh, Nutmeg, Rosewood, Rosemary and Thyme.

Product Abstract: The Tea Tree is a small tree or shrub with needle-like leaves. It is also domestically referred to as Ti-Tree. It can grow up to 7 meters (20 feet) in height and thrives in marshy areas, though it is now cultivated in plantations. The aboriginal people of Australia have long used Tea tree Oil. Historically, the leaves were used as a substitute for tea, which is how it got its name. In World War II, the producers and the cutters of Tea Tree were exempt from military service until enough essential oil had been accumulated to accommodate the military's needs. Tea Tree is very robust and is ready for cutting only two years after its previous harvest. As Essential Oils have become more accepted by the public, the use of Tea Tree Oil has increased significantly. This is readily seen in the commercial products now using Tea Tree, although this grade is best used for therapeutic applications. This is one of the very few Essential Oils that can be applied to the skin 'neat', or without dilution, at a maximum rate of 3 drops.

Cautions: Dilute before use; for external use only. May cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided.

Storage: It is recommended that oils packaged in metal containers (for safe shipping), be transferred into dark glass containers to maintain freshness and attain maximum shelf life.

NOTICE: This product contains a component which is listed under California Proposition 65. California residents will receive this product labeled accordingly.

A mild, fresh scent with no barnyard undertone. I am using it for skin blemishes and in my "get well" EO blend. Not as strong-smelling as the more expensive kinds I have used; this can be a pro or a con depending on your taste!

Oh, I love this tea tree oil!! I have been using TTO for many years and have ordered it from just about every popular vendor. The New Directions TTO is, by far, the best smelling one and it is potent! I make a toner, foot spray, cleaning spray, and medicinal blends and this TTO does its job and then some. I will DEFINITELY order again.

Good for the Feet - Kills Wart Virus I have to say that I am not too fond of the smell of Tea Tree Oil, but I love how it works on my feet. Ever since I was a teenager I have had problem with occasionally recurring plantar warts on my feet. Freezing them off is the only thing I had found that works once they are there - and that hurts! I have found by using Tea Tree Oil in my nightly foot oil mix that it seems to prevent the recurrence of any plantar warts on my feet. That has been a tremendous relief! So far I have been using this mix for about four years and been wart free since then. In my mix I use about equal parts tea tree oil, camphor oil, and Aloe Vera oil. I originally came up with this mix to help with the burning of my feet at night. When I added the Tea Tree Oil I discovered the other benefit.

My husband was getting after me because we were out. He uses it for his teeth. When I opened it and smelled it I was thrilled at how much it smelled like I thought it should and was strong and antiseptic. I use it in a blend I make up every winter for fighting flu and colds. I will be reordering this I am sure. I also really appreciate the other reviews. I get some good ideas from them. So thanks ND for keeping them posted. It also helps me make a decision when I am waffling about which to order.

Tea tree is an excellent all-purpose first aid oil, and one of my best sellers for its versatility and ease of use. I always carry tea tree and lavender with me when I travel, and between them I can treat most common ailments. It smells strong, medicinal, kind of like solvent, but heck, it is very therapeutic and is in fact a solvent! Great for removing nail polish and the glue from stickers and labels, among many other uses. Excellent product at an excellent price, thanks ND!

Tea tree is such a versatile scent. I have started using the oil with my salt deodorant stick. I put a couple drops on and it's a little strong at first, but then fades away and smells really nice. It's not overpowering at all. Such a great scent for use in so many things.

An absolutely essential essential oil :) It is great used in skin care and has a strong but strangely pleasing smell. Once applied to skin, you can feel the oil cleaning your skin. Great in a clay scrub and I'm sure there are plenty of other uses--can't wait to explore! NDA has fantastic products and I love the packaging, making you guys my preferred site. Tea tree oil is my go-to cure-all and I always have a tiny sample-size bottle in my purse and my hubby carries it in his emergency kit. It has worked on stubborn dandruff, athletes foot, thrush, nail fungus, boils, acne, gargle for throat infections, and soothed bug bites. Used as an antiseptic on minor cuts and scrapes and as a general "biting insect" repellant. Leaves a cooling sensation on skin if applied undiluted. Scent is strong, medicinal but clean. Mixes well with lavender and/or peppermint. If you can only buy one essential oil to help fix your skin, buy this one.

I have used both ND's Australian and Chinese Tea Tree oil's and I have no complaints, but for the price, quantity and quality, the Chinese is as good if not better, which was a surprise to me, and the Chinese version has a slightly better smell, not quite as strong in smell, but just as effective in every other way. So if you've been using this great oil, and hesitant to try the Chinese version, go for it!

This should be in everyone's medicine cabinet! I use it for everything from cuts and scrapes to sinus relief. A few drops of this and lavender mixed with Jojoba base makes an amazing treatment for foot fungus. My skin absolutely loves the stuff and feels amazing after a rubdown with tea tree and grapeseed oil. Personally, I love the smell, but I understand those that are not a fan. It does have a medicine-mint smell to it. However, the excellent price and quality of the Australian variety offered here warrant you to give it a shot. Thanks for having the best prices ND!

Wow! This stuff is amazing. I have helped quite a few people that had really disgusting pimples that just didn't want to heal. These were huge crater like pimples that were swollen and painful. First, they pierced the pimple and then I dabbed on some T.T oil. It took everything out.It even took out the clear liquid in the pimple. The next day the pimple is dry and the swelling is 97% gone.

Tea Tree oil is great as a natural insect repellent. We use when we go outside or out on the lake. All bugs stay away from us. It is also wonderful to use for bacterial and odor problems--use a few drops on a WET washcloth and clean offensive genital smells. It works better than soap and water to eliminate the smell. It leaves a tingly fresh feel also after using. I carry it during the day in my purse with a washcloth and use it whenever I need to freshen up.

Besides Lavender, Tea Tree is probably the most useful oil in all of the essential oils. It is a definite MUST HAVE for any aromatherapist. And especially for one just starting out. The properties are many and this oil does not have to be diluted everytime it is used as most E.O.s are. It can be used neat. But still should be diluted as it could cause sensitization in some. It is a most versatile Australian oil and is claimed by some to be a medicine chest in a bottle. It is non-toxic and non-irritant but with possible sensitization in some individuals. Use for abrasions, abscesses, acne, antiseptic, athlete's foot, blisters, burns, cold sores, cuts, head lice, insect bites, laundry antiseptic, nappy rash, scalds, septic wounds, thrush, etc. (Also known as Melasol, Narrow-Leaved Paperbark Tea Tree, Ti-Tree, Ti-Trol.)
