Liquid Base is a natural soap base made from saponified organic oils of coconut and sunflower. This base has a mild pH that will not dry out the skin and can be used as a shampoo, body cleanser, hand wash or even as a mild laundry detergent. It provides a nice gentle cleaning action good for individuals with sensitive skin.
Features: • A true liquid soap • Contains no surfactants • Vegetable origin • Has a clear pale yellow to gold liquid color • Requires only the addition of fragrance and color
Ingredients: • Water - 30 to 100% • Potassium Oleate (Derived from Organic Sunflower Oil) - 10 to 30% • Potassium Cocoate (Derived from Organic Coconut Oil) - 3 to 10% • Glycerin (Organic origin) - 3 to 10% • Potassium Citrate - 0.3 to 10% • Citric Acid - 0.1% or less
Caution: Some essential oils do not mix perfectly with a natural soap base. These may include lemon, lemongrass, clove, eucalyptus, and possibly others. Test carefully when using these oils. Orange oils and other essential oils may leave the mixture and float on top if too much is used. Warm and stir to get them back in. Wait 24 hours to check for separation. Skim excess from top if needed. Any oil-based or water-based herbal ingredient can potentially be used.

Rating: Great mostly organic soap, with a rich lather and clean rinse even in hard water areas. All without any SLS, or harsh surfactants and foaming agents! Testing with different EOs and between various water dilutions as recomended by others here - haven't noticed any gelling problems and works very nicely with a foamer.

Rating: I am a big fan of NDA and all of their products so far so I was disappointed with the Castile soap base. When I opened the bottle it smelled like old oil. I thought adding scent would help but it wont hold scent. I doubt I will try this soap base again.
Rating: This soap base seems to be mild and easy on the skin.
Mixing Essential Oils into this soap base requires some experimenting, most that i tried cause the soap base to thicken and gel, and some never mix and separate out or are cloudy.
I tried several essential oils that I had on hand at the ratio of 2% (by volume). The following oils mixed and left the mix clear (after settling) and seemed stable and compatible - although they did gel or thicken the soap mixture:
Cinnamon (steam distilled), Lavender (40/42), Pine (long leaf), Cedar (Virginia), and Eucalyptus
The more essential oil of these I used, the thicker the resulting soap mix. I found that you can add distilled water to thin the mix. I used about 20% distilled water relative to the final volume to thin the mix.
I found that the thicker gel mix actually seems to work and dispense better, so I am not so sure you need to thin the mix with the distilled water.
These were my observations, try a small amount first to test for yourself. And, I was using fairly high percentages of essential oils, a lesser percentage would cause less thickening.
Lemon, orange Frankincense, and vitamin E oils did not mix or resulted in a cloudy product prone to settling at these same percentages in my case.

Rating: This soap is great, however, I could not use it for what I intended. This soap does not accept fragance will. I tried using essential oils and the soaps smell over powered it. I planned on using this for my products, but I had to settle for using it for personal use.
Rating: Forgot to mention, I also used Lavender and Vanilla EO's in this for my baby and they both 'worked' meaning the soap didn't react in any way to the additions. Of course I added less because it was for baby. This is very concentrated base so really you only need a good sized drop to wash baby from head to toe. Great value!

Rating: For shampoo, I filled a 16oz bottle just under halfway with coco glucoside and then this soap base, added about an ounce of distilled water, a tablespoon of fractionaited coconut oil and some essential oils and it blended perfectly and held the scent pretty well. All products were bought here at ND.

Rating: This is a great soap with a good later, but not something to buy if you want to add fragrance. It has its own scent that is very nice but rather overpowering and can't really be covered by other fragrances. Mixing in essential oils for the skin care benefits is great, but don't expect to end up with a product that will only smell like what you add to it.

Rating: I really like this soap! When I purchased it, I didn't realize it was made with organic oils until I got the bottle! I'm very thrilled and will continue to purchase it once I run out! I made a nice herbal shampoo with it! Love it!
Rating: This soap is exactly what I've been looking for in a hand soap. I mix this in a ratio 1:3 soap to water, and use it in a Pumping Foam soap dispenser. I do add a little Lemongrass and Grapefruit to it, and have not have any problems with it at all. Probably because I only add about 15 drops in total and the soap is mixed with water. I LOVE the way it smells and can't stop smelling my hands after cleaning them. Yes... there is a little bit more soap scum... but that may have to do with how much my children play in the sink with the soap. Next time I'm buying the 4 litres as opposed to the 1 litre. I'll be using it also for cleaning my floors, toilets and bathtubs.
Rating: I've used around 20 different EO with this product...mostly citrus. Took a little experimentation. Found the EO mix well and stay mixed...only with this method: 2/3 soap base...1/3 distilled water (MUST be distilled)...50-60 drops of EO...leave a little bit of air/room in the soap pump container (we use the sudsing kind)...shake. Hope this helps everyone :)

Rating: This is great stuff! I used it in bath/shower gels and everything turned out amazing. Add scent and you are good to go! Perfect for those of us that have no idea what we are doing. :) Highly recommend.

Rating: I just love this soap base, a little goes along ways.
I use it for a shampoo base, mixing Lavender and Ylang Ylang essential oils to it, leaves my hair clean and shiny
Rating: I was looking for a liquid soap base to add to my hand scrub and this works out perfectly! I haven't had any trouble blending the EO's. In fact it give the scrub a wonderful texture. After rinsing, there's a lovely feel on your skin.

Rating: Love the feel of soap but did have a problem with the soap gelling with FO however it makes a great shower gel with some of the FOs. I found it had a bit of a harsh scent of its own as well.
By:Karen, Colorado Springs, ColoradoDate: Loyal Customer Since: 2010
Rating: First off, I love this soap! I tried adding FOs to it, with no success. Whatever I added turned the soap to jelly. Then I diluted the soap with distilled water. This changed everything! The FOs now blend perfectly. Give it a try - mix it with a small measure of water, as that seems to keep the soap from solidifying.
Rating: This soap is great! ive made like 4 scented soaps so far and none of the essential oils had incompatiblities with the soap. but the lavender really thickened the soap which is pretty cool :]

Rating: I have used and sold this liquid organic hand soap for several years now. I love it and so do my customers. Living in the desert is very difficult on the skin and this soap adds back moisture that the sun and wind strips away. It seems to blend well with lavender.

Rating: Probably my favorite ND product. It's organic, it's silky, it lather amazingly, and I haven't had any problem with adding e.o.'s and it turning to a 'gel'. I also do not heat it to blend oils, but rather ask customers to shake the bottle for each use. The facewash I make using it is my biggest seller!
Rating: This is a great product, I use it for a hand soap. In my kitchen I have it scented with Manuka EO and Clove Bud EO, this is a nice combination. The Keylime EO is also real nice with this soap, very fresh and refreshing.
I have found that lavender EO also works well with this product.
Rating: I have been researching "supposed" natural liquid soap bases for close to 2 months. In almost every instance, I found myself having to "look up" or "research" the ingredients. In most cases, I was truly unable to determine how the manufacturer was able to advertise their product as Organic or Natural. This is the FIRST base product that I have found that seems to be a true natural base!
Rating: I've been using this natural (and historical) soap for years. Thank you ND for offering an alternative to the toxic products out there! The more people using these types of things the more we can get the word out about what's really in the drugstore.
I don't add colour but I do add essential oils... rosemary, peppermint, lavender, nice.
A comment for Pam (read below):
The soap gellified on me too and I realized if I added less essential oil it wouldn't happen. I add about 45 drops essential oil to 250ml soap. I'm sure it does depend on the types of essential oil so you'll have to try it for yourself.

Rating: My friend and I have been experimenting with the problem of the soap turning to gel with the addition of essential oils. So far, we've found that bergamot, sweet orange dark, and frankincense do not pose this problem. Also, we tried mixing oils that do turn the soap to gel with a touch of soya bean oil before adding it to the soap. This solved the problem and the soap still lathered very well with no oily residue.
Rating: I really like this soap base. I've been looking for something without chemicals and harsh preservatives that I can use as a multipurpose soap and as a shampoo base. This was fantastic. I used a small amount to test as a shampoo and it had an amazing lather and my hair felt moisturized, yet not greasy, which has been my problem with many natural shampoos.
Rating: Terrific soap, truly love the way it feels. BUT - it does NOT scent with Essential Oils. I have tried several. I even called ND and they simply replied "We don't know what to tell you - except that it doesnt take EO's well". Hmm...well then why is the product description: "A natural liquid soap base that simply requires the addition of fragrance and color".
I guess I will just sell it as unscented.
Rating: This is a lovely soap base, very moisturizing. Takes FOs easily. Interestingly, the soap turned completely to gel with the addition of peppermint EO...

Rating: I loved this soaps lather and the fact that it did not leave hands feeling dry, but was suprised when lavender essential oil would not blend into it. The essential oil stayed beaded throughout the soap never truly blending in. I did have success with tea-tree and peppermint and have not tried any others as of yet

Rating: Found this product to be a little more harsh than other liquid soaps I have tried. Scents easily and lathers great.

Rating: This is a fabulous product! I am extremely impressed with how well it takes and holds scent, not to mention the great foaming power. Very gentle, non drying...a real winner!! Was very pleased to see that you had changed the packaging format for the 1kg quantity from white HDPE jar to HDPE 1 L botte -- much more convenient.
