Description: Babassu is obtained from the kernels of the Babassu palm which is found in the southern regions of Brazil. Babassu Carrier Oil contains a high content of lauric and myristic acids which have melting points relatively close to the body temperature. This oil is refined, making it a wonderful addition to cosmetic products. Babassu Carrier Oil has similar properties as Coconut Oil and is increasingly used as a substitute.
Color: White solid oil.
Aromatic Description: Babassu Carrier Oil has very little scent characteristic of most carrier oils.
Common Uses: Babassu Carrier Oil is a great emollient beneficial for both dry and oily skin. It gently moisturizes the skin without contributing to an oily sheen. It can be used in many skin care products such as soaps, creams, milks, lip balms, and hair care products.
Consistency: Solid at room temperature. Product can be placed in a water bath to liquefy.
Absorption: Absorbs into skin at average speed, slight oil feeling left on skin.
Shelf Life: Users can expect a shelf life of up to 2 years with proper storage conditions (cool, out of direct sunlight). Refrigeration after opening is recommended. Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis for current Best Before Date.
Cautions: None Known.
Storage: It is recommended that cold-pressed carrier oils be kept in a cool, dark place to maintain freshness and achieve maximum shelf life. If refrigerated, bring to room temperature before using.

Rating: I bought 1 gallon of this oil for soap making. It comes in a jar-like container. The mouth of the jar is fairly wide and provides enough space for me to get my hand in and scoop the oil as needed. There is no discernible scent, which is great! I've purchased this oil from another supplier and the smell was a bit off putting. My soap is still curing so I can't speak to its properties yet. I'm pleased so far with the packaging of the oil and the ease of using it in my soap.
Rating: Did not like the way this was packaged. Narrow bottle opening for a solid product. Product is nice, once you get it out of the bottle and a great alternative to coconut oil in recipes for soapmaking.

Rating: I use this is in some of my Shea Soaps By Lara soaps. It is a good substitute for Coconut Oil as some of my customers have Coconut Oil allergies.
I would like to see this oil packaged in a jar.
When I receive my bottle,, I allow the oil to melt and than transfer it to a jar for easy use!
Rating: I bought a gallon of this stuff and lets say I was very upset the way it came in. I had to take a knife and cut like a mad scientist to get to the product. After a few scratches on my hand and me having to get rid of some of the product I was a little worried it was actual babassu. I read online it had a scent but I cant smell anything, maybe different type/grade? Either way I cant get over the gallon jug for this when it should come in a wide mouth jar like coconut oil or something similar.
Price : good
Shipping timeframe : cant complain too much
Package: AHHHHH! pulling hair out!
product itself: Good texture feels good but no smell?
3/5 mostly due to packaging!

Rating: This is an amazing oil. It has similar properties to coconut oil, but I find myself using it more often because of the silky smooth way it feels on my skin. Many of my customers also LOVE the silkiness of this oil. It seems to absorb quite quickly, and leaves a soft silky feel (yes, I keep saying 'silky', but it IS).

Rating: Amazing oil. The perfect substitute for coconut oil. Less greasy, absorbs very well and has no scent to speak of. I use it in my hair care products and it doesn't weigh down my fine hair.

Rating: I was surprised to see this oil arrive in a narrow-opening bottle instead of a wide mouthed jar because everywhere else I've gotten Babassu, it has been solidish at room temperature. (The edges get melty if the room gets warm, just like coconut oil) This oil was liquid. It is summer, and it was bound to melt on the way, but it has not solidified in my air-conditioned home. This concerns me because my whipped recipe's consistency is highly dependent on the usual, specific melting point of this oil. So it'll either firm up and be difficult to remove from the bottle, or it won't and be useless for it's intended application, but easy to dispense. Little frustrating. Either way I'll end up using it, because Babassu is outrageously wonderful in so many ways.
Rating: This oil is wonderful! Will always use. Hope I can always purchase it here.

Rating: One of the best oils I have used -- absorbs well and doesn't feel sticky. Immediately noticed a difference in my skin and hair; both have never been so soft and moisturized. As of now, I prefer babassu over coconut oil. Would be nice if solid oils were shipped in jars, like butters.

Rating: Never really heard of this oil before, but it works wonders. Great for the skin and equally great for hair. It came in a plastic bottle so it was hard to get out. But this oil is a must have. Try it.

Rating: I love this oil! This was my first purchase from ND, and my first attempt at making my own product. The oil is so easy to work with, makes a lovely product - I made a salve with essential oils to help with arthritic pain - it works quite well. The oil absorbs into my skin very well (and I have oily skin); it feels slightly oily for the first minute or two, but then sinks into the skin, leaving a lovely, silky feel. I will be using it to make a rich body butter next. I am hooked!
Rating: Oh well, I am a little bit dissapointed in this babssu oil - it has no scent. I have used urefind babssu oil before and it was fabulous, amazing scent. This refind babssu oil will go well into salves that have no scent.

Rating: Very nice quality oil. I'll be using this in replace of coconut oil. It absorbed into my skin faster than I expected and without the excess oily feeling.

Rating: This is an amazing oil, and I'm so glad that I tried it. I love it more than coconut oil, and I am reformulating many of my products to include this wonderful oil. The cooling sensation on the skin as this oil melts is wonderful!

Rating: I am very please with my first purchase from NDA and with how polite everyone was in trying to help me, especially Ms. R and Ms. C. As a Brazilian, I had high expectations for NDA\'s Babassu oil because I know how wonderful an oil it is. It took a few days, but the Babassu oil I received finally achieved the consistency in room temperature that I was expecting to see in it. The oil per se came from Indonesia, not Brazil, but I am pretty sure that it will perform just as fine for me.
Rating: New Directions provides a high quality Babassu Seed Oil is a wonderful addition to soap and lotions because it is suited for oily, dry, eczema, itchy and inflamed skin. I add it to my eczema salves, body butters and creams to give them a rich velvety feel and to benefit from the healing properties. I highly recommend New Directions Babassu oil it is priced fairly and is of great quality
